BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - Walking hand in hand with her mother, Hester, 24-year old Heather Renae Ellis, trudged grim-faced into the Stoddard County Missouri Justice Center for a pre-trial hearing Wednesday afternoon. The former pre-med student faces four felony counts and possibly fifteen years in prison that stem from a January 2007 arrest after allegedly "cutting in line" at a Kennett, Missouri Wal-mart. Pastor Nathan Ellis says of his daughter, "She's fighting for her life. This has been an outright attempt to destroy her future and assassinate her destiny and I'm proud of her for the fact that she's standing on truth." But, confronted with a change of venue in the nearly three year old case, Ellis and her family did not have to come alone to the small ultra-conservative Southeast Missouri community of Bloomfield where her trial is scheduled for November 18th. Will Smith shows support for Chris Brown

Brown told a New York radio station this week, "As a young black man myself, I need older black, male role models to step in and kind of mold me -- not people bashing me, 'cause that's not how you learn from mistakes." Kanye West & Manager Cleared Of Assault Charges

Kanye West and his manager Don “DC” Crowley have been cleared of all three-misdemeanor charges that resulted from a scuffle with the paparazzi in 2008. The charges of battery, grand theft and vandalism against West and Crowley were thrown out by Los Angeles court commissioner Mark Zuckman.

Not getting away scott free, the two will have to do 50-hours of community service and then the matter will be expunged from their records. They also paid the paparazzi in a civil suit, which further helped the case get tossed. The two also completed 12 hours of anger management classes.

As you might remember, on September 12, 2008, harassing photographers caught the short end of the stick when the two got into a shoving match with the hounding reporters that resulted in the cameras and gear being smashed.

Isiah Thomas Feels “Betrayed” by Magic Johnson Over Gay Rumors In Tell All Book!

Former Knicks coach Isiah Thomas is lashing out at Magic Johnson over accusations contained in a soon-to-be published book written by the former Laker and Larry Bird, including the claim that Thomas questioned Johnson’s sexuality…… after he was diagnosed with HIV. Thomas is now coaching at Florida International University in Miami after leaving New York. He told SI.com Thursday that he was hurt by the criticism from someone he thought was a friend.

“I really feel taken advantage of for all these years,” Thomas said. “I’m totally blindsided by this. Every time that I’ve seen Magic, he has been friendly with me.” In “When the Game was Ours,” to be published Nov. 4, Johnson claims that Thomas made calls to various NBA contacts after Johnson was diagnosed in 1991, and asked whether Johnson was gay.

“How can a so-called friend question your sexuality like that,” Johnson asks. “I know why he did it, because we used to kiss before games, and now if people were wondering about me, that meant they were wondering about him, too.” Johnson goes on to say that his distrust contributed to his failure to lobby for Thomas’ inclusion on the legendary 1992 Olympic “Dream Team.” Johnson lists the different reasons why he believes the other players on that team didn’t want Thomas on the roster. Co-written by both Johnson and Bird with sports columnist Jackie MacMullan, the book mostly focuses on the intense rivalry between Johnson’s Lakers and Bird’s Celtics in the ’80s.

“I wish he would have had the courage to say this stuff to me face to face, as opposed to writing it in some damn book to sell and he can make money off it,” Thomas said.

Ben Ali, founder of Ben's Chili Bowl in DC, dies

Ben Ali, the founder of Ben's Chili Bowl diner, a landmark in Washington's black business and entertainment district and a frequent stop for politicians and celebrities, has died. He was 82. Ali died of congestive heart failure Wednesday night at his home, his daughter-in-law Sonya Ali said Thursday. Ben Ali was born in 1927 and opened the restaurant with his wife, Virginia, in an old movie house in 1958, when Dwight D. Eisenhower was president and integrating public schools. It became a longtime fixture in the black business community, serving up bowls of chili and its trademark chili-covered half-smokes.
Ali's family posted a statement on the restaurant's Web site thanking people for an outpouring of support.

"Family, friends, and countless fans of Ben's will sorely miss the energetic and unforgettable personality of Ben Ali," the family wrote. "He was a true hero of the people and a great example of someone who actually epitomized the American dream."

Ali was an immigrant from Trinidad, earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Nebraska and moved to Washington to study at Howard University's medical and dental schools. He withdrew, though, after injuring his back in a fall.
The restaurant was opened in 1958 on U Street,in Washington DC then known as America's "Black Broadway" for its thriving black-owned shops and theaters. Jazz greats Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole performed along the strip and were known to visit Ben's.

President Barack Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize

President Obama said Friday that he was "surprised and deeply humbled" by the decision of the Norwegian Nobel Committee to award him the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.
President Obama, speaking Friday, said the award was "an affirmation of American leadership." The committee said it honored Obama for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." Obama said he viewed the decision less as a recognition of his own accomplishments and more as "a call to action." The Nobel committee recognized Obama's efforts at dialogue to solve complex global problems, including working toward a world free of nuclear weapons.
"Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," the committee said. "His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population," the committee said of Obama. Already the Republicans are hating! Michael Steele, President of the Republican National Committee, said "he might have won the Nobel Peace Prize but hes not winning any awards in the US." I say take your spoon playing ass somewhere cause you want to be where Pres. Obama shoes. Along with the award he gets a cool 1.4 million.

Australian Variety show do The Jacksons in Black Face

In Australia, The variety show- Hey, Hey Its Saturday Night did what they called a tribute to the Jackson but when they came out the only thing they were giving tribute to were the days of racism and bigotry. American actor Harry Connick Jr, who was a judge on the show, gave the performance a zero score and told the host he wouldn't have appeared on the show if he'd had known about the skit. You would think Australians would be sympathetic with the way the Aborigines were treated.

Soulja Boy Locked Up

Soulja Boy was arrested in the ATL area for running from the cops.

According to a police spokesperson, an officer went to check out what was believed to be an abandoned house in the Henry County area, after he was told there were a bunch of people hanging out in the backyard.

Cops say when the officer rolled up to the home, he saw some women walking towards the yard and asked them to stop — but when they didn’t, he followed them into the yard.

The officer says when he walked inside, he saw roughly 40 people in the yard — and when they saw the cop, half of the people immediately ran out of the home, including Soulja Boy.

The people who stayed in the party claimed they were at the house for a “music video shoot.”

The cop says Soulja eventually returned to the home to retrieve his Range Rover — and that’s when he was arrested for obstruction of justice … a misdemeanor.

According to NEW YORK (WABC),Hip hop artist Method Man surrendered on Staten Island this morning on charges of failing to pay taxes for four years. The 38-year old artist, whose real name is Clifford Smith, did not pay any taxes for four years, according to prosecutors. According to the D.A.'s office, Smith owes $32,799 in taxes, a total that does not include fees or penalties.
He was charged with failure to pay personal income tax and earnings, as well as misdemeanor failure to pay taxes.Smith will be arraigned at Staten Island Criminal Court later today. He faces a maximum of four years behind bars.

October 05, 2009. According to a number of sources, the fight between Ashley "A.J." Jewell and Fredrick Richardson was likely over A WOMAN!!! Frederick, who was a bartender at the Atlanta strip club Body Tap, was dating one of the exotic dancers who worked at the club. Frederick suspected that AJ was "dating" the same women - and when the two saw each other on Friday, an altercation ensued. Its not clear who started it but the fight spilled out into the parking lot where AJ suffered the fatal blow. Frederick, is now facing SIGNIFICANT jail time for killing him.

Ashley “A.J.” Jewell, who was engaged to Kandi Burruss, formely of RnB group Xscape and current Housewives of ATL star,until last August, died of massive head injuries he suffered in a “one-on-one” fight in the parking lot of an Atlanta strip bar, the Body Tap Club.The police made an arrest - a club employee named Fredrick Richardson. He has been charged with voluntary manslaughter. Sources say the dispute was over money. Jewell recently bought interest in the club. He is survived by 6 children. Keep them and his family in your prayers
